RMIT: Capstone

For my Capstone project I created Beyond Our Grasp, a book about memories. It contains 12 photoshoots, each inspired by a particular moment in my life and accompanied with a written passage. Through taking photos of other people acting out myself in my memories, I explore subjectivity and the distance of the past and recontextualise what I remember with how I have grown as a person. I investigate the gap between expectations and reality, and how we can romanticise memories, retroactively imbuing them with feelings and emotions that they did not have.

I expanded this project by creating branded objects, namely stickers and concepts for a candle and a lamp.

RMIT: Studio 4 -

‘Future Brand Image’

My final RMIT studio, ‘Future Brand Image’ was a professional studio environment dedicated to the construction of branding that was engaging, futuristic, boundary pushing and trailblazing. Our tutor encouraged us to think outside the box, and create branding solutions that challenged the existing brand imagery that our chosen brand’s competitors utilised. I created two proposals for both Melbourne Fashion Week and Cinema Nova.

RMIT: Studio 3 - ‘Tasty Culture’

In the studio ‘Tasty Culture’ we were encouraged to consider how we could incorporate, take inspiration from and learn from non-design forms of media - namely art, music, and fashion. I focused on branding, developing a logo, album cover design, ,merchandise, audience profile and sonic identity for a musical artist named ‘Silverstar’. I then imagined a collaboration between a visual artist named ‘Icarus’ and the suiting brand Comme Des Garçons Homme Deux. Finally I created a ‘Tasty Culture Mix’ casette tape.

University of the Arts London: Interaction Design Exchange

I exchanged at UAL’s LCC (London College of Communication) campus, studying a BA in Interaction Design - Arts. During their Autumn Semester we studied desire lines and affordances. For my individual affordances project I created a series of ‘anti-affordance’ signs - i.e: signs that tell the viewer the opposite of what they are supposed to. I presented these in context, as if they were real signage in a hypothetical ‘anti-affordance’ world.

RMIT University: Studio 2 Final Assignment

In the studio ‘Free Form’, we were encouraged to think outside the box while we designed identities for a social movement. I created these posters as part of a three-component movement; ‘Outrage, Engage, Courage.’ Each step was intended to evoke the named word, with these posters representing fear, anger and, outrage.

RMIT University: User Experience Design

In my user experience design (UX) class, we were asked to develop a website for a need of a particular subculture or community. I created ‘Abyss’ a 24-hour curated music streaming site for underground musicians, selected by Australian DJs and tastemakers. I worked in Adobe XD and Illustrator, which gave me valuable experience in the front end, UX, and interaction design fields. Disclaimer: All album art shown is freely available on Bandcamp and no copyrighted music was used in the presentation or creation of the demo website.
